Monumento dedicado a las victimas y memoria de los eventos del 11 de Abril del 2002 que culminaron en el golpe de estado en contra del Presidente Chávez. Se culpa a la oligarquía petrolera por incitar el evento que dejo varios muertos. A pesar de ser destituido, Chávez logró ser reinstituido tres días después. La placa cita la frase “Los que mueren por la vida, no pueden llamarse muertos”, la cual es una canción del legendario trovador venezolano Alí Primera. Asesinado misteriosamente en los años 80, las canciones de Alí Primera se han convertido en himnos  de cambio social por toda Latinoamérica.

Monument dedicated to the victims and memory of the events which took place on April 11^th, 2002, which resulted in the coup d’état against President Chavez. The oil-controlling oligarchy has been blamed for the incitation which left several dead. Despite the removal, Chavez managed to be reinstated three days later. The plaque quotes “Those who die for life, can not be called dead”, phrase from a song by legendary Venezuelan folk singer Ali Primera. Mysteriously assassinated in the 1980’s, Ali Primera’s songs have truly become hymns of social change throughout Latin America.
